I am truly at a loss. I just want to cry. I am crying. I just don't know what else to do. I am going on an all inclusive resort vacation in exactly 3 weeks and I am terrified. My husband asked about these cute little white short shorts he bought me about 4 years ago that I never wear anymore. I straight told him they don't fit. He has no idea how much I've gained. I'm still wearing skirts and dresses M-Th and on Friday's the same one pair of boyfriend capri's that I feel okay in. I am so ashamed and embarrassed about what is happening to my body. I feel like the nutritionist was no help. The lady I did the metabolic testing was a little bit more helpful but I feel like I need someone to guide me through this because I don't know what is happening and I don't know what to do. I sent an e mail to the lady that did my metabolic testing with a link and password to my lose it account. I was hoping she would be willing to at least glance through it and give me some advice on what I'm doing wrong but I can't even reach her. The e mail was returned. I never did consistently eat 1,500 calories plus per day but there is absolutely no way that my body should think it's starving at this point because I am ALWAYS above 1,000 USUALLY around 1,200 to 1,300 and SOMETIMES above 1,500. Most people who eat in this general range are not going to inexplicably gain weight. I just don't get it. Maybe I need to consistently eat more but c'mon. I don't see that doing anything but making me bigger.
I think most of the diet and weight loss plans covered by insurance are for those that are either severely underweight, diagnosed eating disorders or for the obese. I'm not sure what's out there for people like me who are just trying to figure out how to eat and not gain weight. I'm at an all time weight high today. It's not constipation and it's not water retention. I don't do daily BM's but I'm fairly regular for my standards. I still retain water on the weekends (WTF??) but I'm drinking water and peeing regularly. It's real weight, it really sucks and it confirms one of my biggest fears to be true. I'm supposed to be "large." I was only small before because I was fighting my body and now that I am eating closer to what my body wants it's doing what it wants and will continue to do so until it's happy. How I feel about it be damned. My body doesn't care.

I want to thank Paula for coming out of the wood works and commenting on my last post. It means a lot to hear from people who didn't have kids and also have no regrets. I am surrounded by moms. I am at that age when baby fever is hitting everyone I know and I do feel isolated and alone being child free. I sometimes still feel torn about our decision and other times I am thrilled about our decision. It's just kind of a back and forth emotional roller coaster. On that note I'd also like to thank anonymous commenter from last post and everyone else who reads and/or comments on my blog.
I've been at this for a long time. I've changed and my blog has changed a lot over the years. I don't post as often and most of the time it feels like people aren't reading which is okay because this is an outlet for me. I'm not here to be popular or anything but I do enjoy the support and the feed back that I find here just by writing out my thoughts and from the interaction that I do get. I don't see there ever being a time when I don't come back here. I've been writing in journals since I was a kid. I have online journals that I cut and pasted from other places into a separate private blog dating way back to 2003 all right here. It took me days and days to do it but it was important to me to have that record all in one place. Every heart ache, every hope every dream I've had for the last 11 years of my life is all here. I love writing. I'm not ever going to stop. I might disappear for a while but I will always come back.
I know what it's like to feel like you are not in charge of your own body
ReplyDeleteIt's beyond frustrating
Keep hanging in there
Ps I tried to follow your blog but it won't let me, not sure why
Take care x
My body did that. I got to 133 then no matter what I did I gained back up to a maintain of 150-158. This included two operations in that time, exercise and calorie counting, paleo diet, etc. It's so frustrating and I'm sorry I have no answers to this. I just wanted to let you know I understand. xx

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you're struggling with your weight. I don't know how tall you are or how much you weigh so I can't objectively give you any feedback, not sure if you're even asking for it. All I can say, Miranda, is that I've been a longtime reader and I'm not going anywhere and I relate to your struggles. I relate to not understanding weight and how to perceive ourselves. I just want you to know that you're smart and beautiful. It's possible (and I mean this in the nicest, most honest way) that you will continue to gain for awhile until your body reaches it's "happy weight". When and if that happens is when you will be able to try to take control again. I'm going to be that girl right now also, and say to please always remember that what matters most is what's inside. I know it's so hard with our society and the media, etc. but it's worth it to remember that these bodies we obsess over are truly just vessels for our souls. I wish you peace. I hope you have a wonderful vacation! Please know that you are not fat. You are living this life on earth and we're all just doing the best we can with what we have. It's a miracle that we're here and we can communicate via blogger. Man I just got really deep but it's that kind of week. Much love. xo
That happened to me too, just keep at it. The answer might lie in what are you consuming, not how much. I know everyone are wowing to the high protein diet right now but everyone is unique and it could be that there's something wrong with the compound of nutrients. It could also be the exercise, have you taken measurement tape? You could be gaining muscle or if you're training a lot, you still might be eating too little... or then your body is coping with the previous starvation mode. For me that was the most logical explanation to gaining a year ago. I was finally eating the right amount and it didn't happen straight away. It took time before my body started to hold on to it and that went on almost a half year. I gained over 30 lb but I just kept working it. Keep on the exercising, it will shift eventually and your body will start working as it's supposed to. It's responding late to the extremes and your physique deals with the trauma your ed caused at the moment. Only explanation I have for you and the only thing that I've figured to explain what happened to me. Because I haven't changed my diet much at all during the span I gained and to now... or the amount/type of exercise I do.
ReplyDeleteIt's annoying but keep your head high!
xoxo
Oh sweetheart. I feel your frustration. Sometimes (more often than not, let's face it) the numbers just do not add up. I preach consistency too, but I seldom stick to it. It's hard to trust your body to do the right thing when it's already screwing you over. I wish I had some wonderful words of wisdom or advice, but all I can say is please keep hanging in there. I don't know much about how healthcare works outside Australia but something's gotta give at some point.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm not always the best commenter but I love reading your blog. You're a strong woman, and although we mightn't be particularly close I feel I've come to know you on some level. Your journey is unique and I'd be sad if you stopped writing. I've always kept journals too and can't imagine not.
Take care my dear. You'll be in my thoughts <3 xx
I can empathize so much with this post. I too have been going through this period of inexplicable weight gain - I just don't understand why I am eating a "normal" amount, or something less than, and still gaining. It just needs to stop.
ReplyDeleteI know you're stressed about it, but I always try to remember that we are so much more than just the stupid number on the scale or on a tag in our clothes. It's easy to forget that, but it's true.
I have been thinking of you lately.. I specially remembering the one comment you left me once "shouting" for me to get my act together, choose a plan and just stay at it.. I remember back then I wished I had your determination.. Your will.. Your strength..
ReplyDeleteYou might not be able to see this, you might be frustrated, you see 131.5 and think there is no going back.. But I know that you will get where you put your mind to get. I know that you are strong, that you plan and stick to your plans until you reach your goal.
I really hope to hear from you again soon, your blog is one of the few I really look forward to read.
*hugs*
