After I got through 2 dinners out and Thanksgiving I thought I was home free until December 10th when I have a holiday party. Surely, my father in law is done pigging out and will finally just chill out and eat left overs. Nope. He says he wants to take us out to dinner on Monday. Seriously? Hasn't there been enough eating? Then, I had to figure out how to fit my cardio work outs in on top of it. Sigh.
So, I went to the gym on Monday morning so I'd have time to go and eat some more on Monday night. We went to a Mexican restaurant which is usually disaster for me because of tortilla chips and casadilla's. I did pretty good though on not overdoing it on the chips and I got two corn tortilla beef tacos. I ordered a beer just to be sociable but I shouldn't have because I could only manage a few sips. I was so freaked out about what damage I may have done that as soon as I got home I stripped and did my second work out of the day. I met them there so I had my own car and hubby needed to do a stop with his dad so I figured I had at least 15 minutes from when I got home to go out for a run and be in the shower before hubby knew any different. I was tired and my stomach was full but I felt I had to DO something. As I was running I could feel my food kind of gurgling up in my throat. I managed to burn 170 more calories for the day but just 8 minutes into my run I see hubby turning into our housing complex. Damn he's fast! I was busted which isn't too big a deal except that my goal is always to minimize my exercise diet obsessions as best I can. So, I ended up burning 604 calories in the morning (45 minute elliptical, 15 treadmill run) and 170 during my night time run for a total of 778 for the day. My intake was 987 (with eating out this is amazing!!) for a net of 209. I don't really go by net; although now that my calorie budget is down to the 800's if I've exercised I don't feel as bad about going over. Hubby has officially jumped back on the exercise bandwagon himself starting yesterday morning; he gained 7.5 lbs while his dad was here! I didn't do so hot myself but if I'd gone along with their program I would have gained way more then I did.
Tuesday morning I simply did not have the strength for the gym and I didn't have time in the evening because I had class until 9:30pm. I went on Wednesday morning before work because I had my hair appointment after work and I'm going again today after work. I'm doing Thin or Not's Christmas Thin Challenge. She's going for 20 lbs! I want to lose 4.5 lbs and then continue maintaining within 2-3 lbs over the holidays. I started on Monday at 116.5 lbs and I'm down to 115.5 lbs right now so 3.5 more to go. The deadline I have set for myself is December 10th.
That moment you realize that it's "real" weight that you have gained truly sucks. I worked out hard and have been eating less but I've still not dropped down to my target weight or even the higher target weight I was accepting. Nope. It's not just a slip up where I lose as soon as I go back to the routine. It's one slip up too many where I have to fight for every 1/2 pound. I had my chance. I got myself into this mess now I have to fight to get myself out.
you did a very good job eating out - I have no idea how - but seemed like I had unfollowed her blog :S So I am joining in on the challenge too - if it is still possible that is..
ReplyDeleteI have been doing pretty good with the 2 shake and a salad thingi I am doing. It is so empowering.. Now I think I am sort of feeling what you feel being so in control :)
Just remember that muscle weighs more than fat AND that muscle bruns off faster.. so you might not see a loss straight away but it should drop off soon! my sister has recently qualified as a personal trainer and keeps passing on these "inspirational" tips! xxx Keep fighting xxx
