Underweight & Healthy?

Today:  113.2

My yogurt has sort of fell by the wayside over the last couple weeks due to my raging sweet tooth and unexpected treats around the office.  There has only been one day that I have skipped my Fiber 1 since I started eating it.  I will make sure that gets worked into my calorie budget but if I decide to eat that damn brownie then I feel that I need to take something away and lately that's meant no yogurt.  I also make the decision on jelly or peanut butter on my bread in the morning based on the same logic.   I ate the 3" Subway Sandwich and brownie at the work meeting and stuck the chips in my desk.  I snacked my way through dinner and ended up with a decent calorie count.  It was so nice to just go straight home after work yesterday.

That urge to pig out has kind of gone away.  I did get my little fix on Super Bowl Sunday & out at the restaurant Wednesday but it occurred to me that really, I can only eat so much.  On both days I kinda went all out.  I felt full both days and it was good enough.  I called myself pigging out and ate 1,100 and 1,600 calories.  So, that is my pigging out.  I got to do it and I think I am satisfied.  I don't know, I just sort of have this image of eating 5 huge slices of pizza or a giant hamburger and french fries.  Or just taking heaping piles of everything when I'm at a party and loving it.  In reality I don't really need to do that.  I don't want to do that.  I don't want to be so full that I can't stand up straight.  Anyways, my stomach gets full before any of that would happen so I can have my fill, be satisfied, then stop.  When I know I'm going to go out I usually plan my calories accordingly so the day count is high but not extraordinary.  If it's unplanned I usually do a good job of not overdoing it because I already have food in my stomach and it just sort of turns off that pig out switch.  I'm still trying to work on overall restraint in eating out situations but I think I've gotten so much better.

There are times where I do worry about if I am getting enough nutrients.  Most people can't make it on the calories that I eat in a day and maybe there is a reason for that.  We aren't supposed to be eating this little.  I try to get in that yogurt and cheese for Calcium.  I get that Fiber 1 and whole wheat bread for Fiber and I get the healthy fats with Peanut Butter.  I could stand to work in more fruits and veggies and I need to just get on the ball and start taking my multi and calcium supplements.  I also need to just bite the bullet and buy those expensive fish oil tablets since it's supposed to be good for my cholesterol numbers.  I get all types of varieties of foods like beef and chicken just in smaller portions and I do have my splurge days here and there where I go 1,200 or 1,500 or so.  Lately, I've been sacrificing on nutritional content to fit sweets into my budget but it's not something I do ALL the time.  Is it enough? My mom worries that it isn't.  Using Lose It does it helps me see where I'm at on the main categories.  It doesn't show calcium and Vitamins.  I feel that I am not that extreme but I would hate to find out 10 years from now that I have been doing damage.  Getting old is hell and I don't want to make it even harder by not giving my body what it needs.  I'm really trying to be both underweight and healthy but it's a constant battle.  I want both.  I want to have my cake and eat it too just like everyone else.

Thank goodness it's Friday!!!  This week seems to have gone on forever and a day.  I'm ready for a break.  Tonight hubby and I will cozy up and watch some movies at home.  He leaves Saturday morning and won't be back until Sunday night.  I'll spend Saturday cleaning and relaxing.  Sunday I don't have any plans.  Sunday night we are having a Margarita Pizza from Fresh & Easy. I can restrict on Saturday and Sunday day to prep for that.

  1. I think you should try tracking nutrients on programs such as fitday.com or cron-o-meter (i use the latter). after seeing how low i was in all the nutrients, i started dropping empty calories in favor of vegetables and other whole foods. i now find it much easier to restrict

  2. Make sure you always take a multivit. every day. That will help a lot.

I take a multi, prenatal, iron and biotin suppliment every single day. That's a lot of pills, but I take them all to make sure I get all my vitamins and because my dermatologist suggested taking them all for my hair loss. I'm sure you don't need all those pills. I'd say just a multivitamin and maybe some calicum would work for you!

  3. If you're a purger like me, fish oil supplements are a bad idea. I've stopped but have bad reflux, so even in capsules I'd burp up a horrible fishyness. Maybe try to eat more walnuts, avocado, coriander or carroway to help with your cholesterol to start and drink some hibiscus tea. It's good that you're mindful of your intake and still allowing snacks.

  4. Yeah getting enough vitamins and nutrients are always tricky when restricting.
Seems like you got it all figured out though :)
You are so amazing...why can't I be more like you?

    Be safe :)

  5. You could try myfitnesspal instead of loseit if you want to see your daily nutrient intake. It's a very similar app/website that I switched to after using loseit because it had more foods in its library. I find that I like it better.

P.S. - Thanks for the motivation!
