Yesterday was a marathon. I went from work straight to the promo job. The lady in charge of us was a total bitch. I have never worked a promo for anyone as mean as her. It was a great event to work though. I really enjoyed that part of it but after standing on my feet all day my back was killing me. I was starving as I watched people eat popcorn and hor dourves. It was a conference for journalists so of course I was thinking about how awesome it would be to have that kind of job. I love writing. It would be something that I could be passionate about but of course having no drive or clue on how to go there It's something I never considered doing and now I'm old. We got to meet the guy who is behind the film that was being screened that night. It was just like wow. This guy gets to do what he loves. He is probably loaded. Why must my brain always be stuck on crap like that? I am obviously extremely envious of those who have what I wish I had. At least it doesn't make me cry into my pillow at night anymore.
I was the only married person in the group I was working with. I'm not sure why but being married makes me feel good. Like, someone has chosen me. I may not have a whole lot career wise or money wise but I do have a great husband. And I have a house. One of the girls I was working with kind of reminded me of me. Ally works at a job that's just an 8-5 job and has been working since she was 16. Like me. She talked about being "poor" and needing money which is why she does the promo jobs. Just a regular girl. I have come across so many people at modeling jobs living these fantasmic lives. They own a business. They have some random cool job like an artist and make a lot of money at it. They don't work but their husband does and so they just get to run around doing modeling. They have this or that. It was refreshing to see someone that seemed like me. This other model told me she went to FIDM for three years at 27K per year and now she can't get a job in the fashion industry. OMG. That's a heck of a lot of money to owe. She's actually has kinda big hips so I'm surprised that my agency picked her up at all. She lives in a kind of expensive area but she says she lives paycheck to paycheck and has to work fashion shoots for free while trying to get her foot in the door.
When we finally got off there were about 4 trays of Hors Dourves in the back and we scarfed a few down before we left. They let us keep our shirt which is a cute black sweater top with a little tie at the waist-YES!! They also gave us $20 for parking and food which was fine for me because I only paid $2.50 on the street but not fine for Ally who paid $34 between training and event parking in the hotel garage. I didn't get into bed until just before midnight and still could not sleep. Even as exhausted as I was.
Getting through today is gonna be hellish alright. I can barely keep my eyes open and it's barely 9am. Thank god it's Friday. Hubby will be home by the time I get home home from work. Wanting to be a good wife I offered to make dinner and as tired as I am it is the freakin' LAST thing I want to do when I get home after a long week and an exhausting day. The challenge of real restriction begins and the sad thing is that I didn't accomplish much at all during this week. Well, to be fair I did see 120 at one point during this past weekend so I guess that's something. But, it would be so easy to be right back up there if I'm not careful. And I literally have not had a BM since MONDAY!
