A girlfriend and I were supposed to get together for dinner and drinks but she cancelled because she's broke. I was actually kind of glad because I am broke myself and didn't want to spend any extra money but also because that means there is no temptation to eat or drink more then I usually would. At home all of my eating is controlled and so much easier to navigate.
I actually was feeling pretty good today. There is a caveat to the new tax credit that means hubby and I might qualify for $6500 credit when we buy a home. I'm starting to love my new car and not just see it as a source of stress. My moon roof was open the sun was shining. I was comfy in my leggings and Uggs-which is my weekend uniform in cooler weather. I had a coupon for Kohl's so off I went and bought a long sleeve shirt and a scarf for only $20 bucks. Score. I went to Walmart and Ralph's using coupons at every stop. I only spent $5 bucks in Ralph's because of my coupons which makes up for the $50 spent at Walmart. Last stop of the day is Subway on the way home for my standard weekend dinner.
Then the other shoe drops. When I got home I realized that my cell phone was officially dead. It's not been working properly but still usable for a while. I was going to hold out because my contract is up in February. Well, I'm not about to buy another cell phone right now so on top of everything else I am basically without a cell phone for the next 3 months. I'm not really sure how that's going to work. I basically have a phone with a blank white screen. It will accept calls although the screen is totally white so that you can't see who's calling. No other functions work.
Why me? Why does my life have to suck? Then I start thinking about all of my other financial concerns and that makes me even more upset and stressed. I was actually having a good day too. I told hubby that I didn't buy any groceries and that the cupboards will be bare when he comes home. Which is fine for me. When I go to the grocery store I usually pick up my usual basics like peanut butter, jelly, bread, yogurts, and a snack cracker for work. Canned soups, frozen entrees, string cheese, pretzels, light ice cream, and soda. Stuff like that. Nothing that you can really cook with or make a hearty meal out of. Normal people usually want a little more then that. I don't need much but I feel bad that I won't be stocking up for him. I just really can't afford to and to be honest I wouldn't even know what to buy. I am already a failure as a wife and we haven't even lived together yet.
Basic Instinct is on. It's a pretty hot movie. It came out when I was in high school and I went to the movies and saw it with some friends (without telling my mom). Well, all it's doing is reminding me that I haven't had sex since July.
