My birthday was fabulous. Starting with Friday I met up with my friends for happy hour. I ate my plate of cheese and tortilla chips, drank some wine and had a good time. I didn't even tell them it was my Birthday; just that I wanted to meet up since it's been a while. No one seems to remember anybodies Birthday and I don't like much to do about my Birthday so I didn't mention it. Then Saturday I met up with my mom. She took me shopping!! She bought me two cute tops. Then we stopped for coffee and got mani pedi's at this awesome spa. It was so nice and luxurious. After that it was dinner. I ordered the Pizza and didn't eat it all so that in itself was a victory for me. I feel bad because my mom spent a lot of money on me and I let her. My parents are not rich. Our spa services were about a $115, she spent $50 on the tops and then dinner. I did have a free entree coupon for that. I mostly hate it when people spend a lot of money on me; especially my mom but I sort of just went with it. It's my 35th.
Sunday I did an exercise video in the morning really just because I felt like it. Any attempt at damage control was futile because I still had a pasta laden dinner ahead of me that I knew a measly 300 calorie burning video would not make a dent in so that was not a motivating factor at all. My family came over and we went to Olive Garden. Hubby just finished his 90 day P90X cycle (he lost 16 lbs!!) so he was kind of on a break. He wanted an appetizer which I heartily indulged in. They let us taste this bottle of wine and it was sooooo good. The sweetest most perfect wine for me. My new favorite. We got a bottle for the table. $26 bucks; what a rip off when we looked it up and found that you could by it for $12 online. I drank a bunch of that. My lasagna portion was gigantic. There was a voice in my head telling me to eat only half but I didn't listen. I kinda knew it would really not make much difference in my expected weight gain so I just said, what the hell and ate it up. That way I don't have to deal with left overs. I had 2 bread sticks and one serving of the salad. Hubby made four kinds of cupcakes for my Birthday cake. He's so sneaky I didn't even know he was doing it. They are all from scratch of course. One of them is literally a peanut butter and jelly cupcake which also happens to be my favorite sandwich in the whole world and he knows it. He's so sweet. I'm so lucky to have such an awesome husband. I got some really awesome presents too. Most of it for the gym and that's what I asked for. Hubby got me some Under Armour work out gear, work out socks and the most adorable work out bag. Big got me a water bottle and some ear buds. Little sis got me a pretty necklace. All in my favorite color. I felt so spoiled and it's a rare thing for me so I tried not to feel too bad and just enjoyed it.
Monday damage control mode kicked into high gear. I woke up at 117.5 lbs!!! OMG!! That is a record after weekend high. I told hubby he better step off on bugging me about food. He said he'd leave me alone for a week thank god. It's been so nice to just eat what I want without having to lie or be under pressure from him about what's for damn dinner. I'm finally starting to get hungry. I have the worse hunger ache deep in the pit of my stomach. Painful. I just ate a Snackwell Bar that has 8 grams of protein and I don't think it's gonna help. I have mostly eaten light snacks and nutritionally void food since Monday. Things like Fiber 1, Toast, String Cheese, Pretzels, Apples, Granola Bar, Crackers and Yogurt. I also worked out Monday and Tuesday after work and forced myself to go before work this morning burning about 600 in an hour each time on the Elliptical. My legs are so worn out. This is my big push to undo the damage and then stay on the straight and narrow. I'm down to 114.5 lbs today and although my stomach is killing me I'm planning to continue to exercise my right to not eat a "real" dinner again tonight. Even though hubby is getting Santana's and just the thought of a Carne Asada Taco is making my mouth water. Tomorrow I'm supposed to meet hubby for my lunch break and I so badly want to make up a lie about not being able to but I feel so bad!! Friday is lunch with some girlfriends. I kinda got railroaded because she knew I was off that day and when she asked I couldn't think of an excuse fast enough. Plus, I NEED to get out with girlfriends and it's a good opportunity to start putting my dining out self control into practice. Saturday hubs and I have a picnic planned.
Q&A/Comments:
Kitty: My end all be all number is 112. For some reason that's just the magic number for me. My ideal range is 112-114 although I do sometimes think about upping the 114 a bit. Maybe to 115 or 116 to take the pressure off. I don't know.
Sheeblu: Thanks for the link about the concept of eating smaller mini meals throughout the day. I'll definitely check it out. I also do snacks all day and my only real meal might come at Dinner. I know it's not good for me but it's a hard habit to break.
Aww, that sounds so great. You deserved that fantastic birthday (: And the weight gain is probably just because your body is retaining food, once it's alll out of your system it'll be better. And if nothing else, it definitely helped speed up your metabolism!

I'm so so so glad you had a good birthday - and that you actually let people spoil you :) I envy the relationship you have with your mom - you are so lucky.
ReplyDeleteThe gain will be gone in no time - don't worry about it! And I actually think it wouldn't be too bad to up the number to 114 - I remember you have talked about it before - but that you normaly panic as soon as you get close to the 114.. so I guess you need to figure out what makes you feel good :)
take care of you :)
