Hubby e mailed me and asked if I wanted to meet him at Happy Hour after work. Some of his co workers were going and he invited me to come along. My first thought of course was NO I cannot eat out today. I cannot face the calories and the temptation when I am already sitting at a hefty 118. But, then he said "Awww...I told everyone you would go." So, because he is sweet enough to want me around and he asked me I told him I would go.
I had 3 beef taquitos, 1 little street taco, tortilla chips and a beer. I love beer. It has to be the most perfect drink in the universe. It is just so refreshing going down. I was feeling all bummed out because if he had gone to happy hour and I didn't then I could have come home and NOT eaten dinner and instead here I was pigging out again. I also felt bad that I was going to avoid hanging out with my hubby just because I didn't want to eat the food.
Anyhow, I just ate what I ate and went home and got ready for bed pretty much. This morning I was delighted to find myself at 117.5. I don't know how that happened. Today I am meeting hubby for a lunch date and I already know I am going to get a Cobb Salad. I get home late tonight so I won't be expected to eat dinner and ideally I can at least maintain. I take comfort in knowing that I will only be eating my PBJ then a Cobb Salad around 1:30pm and nothing else for the rest of the day. My body should have plenty of time to burn it off. Should being the operative word.
I told hubby about my 2nd job idea and he isn't down for it. He says he will never see me. Which is true. Our weekends of hanging together would essentially come to an end. I don't want to do it either but I am just so sick over having an extra mortgage I don't know what else to do.
Maybe I'm stepping out of bounds here (if so, just push me back where I belong), but why don't you and hubby combine your wages/finances? It seems like you are keeping them both strictly seperate which is creating undue hardship on you. (especially if hubby is making good money, like you say). I understand that you might feel like it's unfair to have him "take care" of you buy helping you pay your bills, but isn't that what marriage is all about? Husband and I share all the finances and wages. He makes a bit more and has less debt than I do (student loans), but we combined all our debt and wages and pay the bills accordingly. We have a great life sharing everything happiness, sadness, money, and bills.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm just being nosey, so just ignore this if you want.
I have two jobs still and so does my hubby and I can tell you while the money is good, after 10 months now we are both tired and stressed out so bad it's hard to be glad when we have a few moments together.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys can do anything to help stretch the money without completely using all of your free time it'd be great.
We only see each other in passing now and by the time I get home I just want to go to bed sometimes!
BUT - I know how the money goes... we just moved into our new house, have two new bills we didn't have at the other house and it feels like we will never make it!
Both stresses suck... need of money, or need of time...
Maybe you could set a time frame for working and eventually easing out of two jobs?
Piglet-no I don't feel you are overstepping any bounds and it's fine that you offered your suggestion. I actually plan to write a post that has to do with your question. Stay tuned!!
