I Think We're Gonna Make It

Yesterday I didn't get home until 8:00pm. I ate my usual work snacks (minus pbj of course 'cause I had a Starbucks sandwich) granola bar included plus a pecan twirl that's been sitting in my desk for a while. I was just hungry. For dinner I had a piece of string cheese, some bread w/some fresh mozzarella lumps. Yes, I am a cheese whore. Last night my stomach gave me that feeling that it wanted to go #2 but my body wouldn't let me so I took some Metamucil this morning. I've been doing good with only taking them when I get that stopped up feeling.

Here I sit at 115. It never fails that the timing of me going down also coincides with some kind of happy hour or dinner and instead of maintaining then dipping into lower territory I fail miserably and gain a pound and then have to start all over. This time it's hubby coming home. I will be hungry and tempted by everything. But I want to keep this momentum going. This is a test to see if I've got what it takes right now to keep up restricting. Pass or fail? We shall see.

So glad my honey comes home today. We have gone so long without each other before that a week was small potatoes but I have missed him. We are both starting to get excited about the house. I guess some of the initial sticker shock is finally wearing off. My friend who I went over to have dinner with the other night is making it under some extremely difficult financial circumstances. She has been unemployed for going on a year. She has two college age daughters and her husband hasn't been working either. She has her home (that she paid a lot of money for) and a rental property. I don't know how she's keeping her bills paid. She is surviving all of this so I am thinking that hubby and I can make it too. You don't know exactly what life is going to throw at you but sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith and hope for the best. We are both employed. Hubby has an amazing new job and I am sure he will do well there career wise. This is a starting point and we may struggle at first but I think it will get better.

We are definitely stretching our budget but staying within reason by not exceeding it. We will just need to be smart about our money and I'm a pro at that. I've got that part covered. So now we just have to hope that everything goes smoothly from here to closing.

  1. I think you can do it.
You are already used to a tight budget, but your hubby has to learn it. This can be interesting to watch him adapt...
But I think you can do it. You love each other, you have this dream, you are already looking forward to it, so you can work hard for it.

I wish you all the best...
